How to Get a Temporary AMKA Number in Greece for Vaccination

In efforts to ensure that everyone living in Greece is vaccinated against Covid-19, Greek health authorities recently announced that they would be issuing a temporary AMKA number to all foreigners and uninsured individuals.

Participation in the current Covid-19 vaccination procedure requires an 11-digit social security number (AMKA).

Individuals who do not have this number can now get temporary number and then proceed with the vaccination procedure described here.

Getting Your Temporary AMKA Number

1) Go to http://emvolio.gov.gr  and request a temporary AMKA number (χορήγηση προσωρινού ΑΜΚΑ)

2) Fill in the form:

a) first name (όνομα)
b) last name (επώνυμο)
c) father’s name (πατρώνυμο)
d) mother’s name (μητρώνυμο)
e) gender (φύλο)
f) nationality (υπηκοότητα)
g) date and location of birth (ημερομηνία και χώρα γέννησης)
h) contact info, including home address, e-mail address, and cell phone number (στοιχεία επικοινωνίας: ταχυδρομική διεύθυνση, διεύθυνση ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου (e-mail) και αριθμό κινητού τηλεφώνου)
i) tax number (ΑFΜ), if you have one (Αριθμό Φορολογικού Μητρώου – ΑΦΜ)
j) the number and date of issue of one of the following identification documents: (αριθμό και έτος έκδοσης ενός από τα ακόλουθα έγγραφα ταυτοποίησης)
– police ID card (δελτίου αστυνομικής ταυτότητας)
– European Health Insurance Card (Ευρωπαϊκή Κάρτα Ασφάλιση Ασθενείας)
– temporary or permanent residence permit (προσωρινού ή οριστικού τίτλου διαμονής)
– Special Identity Card of Expatriate (EDTO) (Ειδικού Δελτίου Ταυτότητας Ομογενούς)
– Birth Certificate (Ληξιαρχική Πράξη Γέννησης)
– other form of identification (άλλου εγγράφου ταυτοποίησης).

It is reminded that the Covid-19 vaccine is free. Vaccination will be carried out at 1,018 centers and at set hospitals around the country.

People will not be able to select which vaccine they receive.

Those vaccinated will receive a certificate in digital form, which will be for their personal use.
