Thousands passing the tolls at Kalamata
All the drivers and passengers of the vehicles that have tried since Friday to cross the tolls of the Corinth - Tripoli - Kalamata highway are going through a "small crash", with some being forced to make a U-turn and turn back.
Police teams are present at all tolls in the Peloponnese Region on the main highway and until yesterday morning more than 3,700 checks had been carried out.
The biggest filtering is done at the tolls of Elefsina, where the police have heard incredible excuses from ingenious drivers. Like a 70-year-old who claimed to have λι late olive trees he wanted to take care of. Another driver wanted to travel to Kalamata to buy oil, while a lady wanted to go and train her dogs in mountainous Arcadia. All of them, of course, could not pass and went back.
Another agronomist showed a certificate βα that he must come to Kalamata to spray the olive trees, because otherwise they will be destroyed. Of course, he came back too!
Return with… the same ticket
At the tolls of Spathovonio, Nestani, Megalopolis but also at the rest of the highway, from the Central Peloponnese Motorway Traffic, more than 3,700 checks have been made. Until yesterday morning, 40 fines had been confirmed for violations of measures related to the coronavirus, while many were forced to return, as they were not allowed to cross the tolls, because they did not have the necessary documents. Checks are also carried out on the side streets.
"Controls to avoid interregional travel will be very strict and systematic throughout Holy Week. Citizens need to understand that those who do not have the necessary documents, which are thoroughly checked, will not go through the tolls. We ask them, therefore, not to try to leave, if they do not have the necessary documents ", stressed the lieutenant a΄, head of the Press Office of the General Police Directorate of the Peloponnese Region, Sofia Bitsoni.
