OPEN LETTER OF PROTEST ABOUT THE HEALTH CENTER OF AG. NIKOLAOS 

December 7th 2016

To: The Health Authorities of the District of the Peloponnese, the Ionian Isles, Epirus and Western Greece.

The Director and the staff of the Health Center of Ayios Nikolaos and all local residents as one, united for a common cause, ask the State to resolve the pressing issue of the operation of the Health Center, which has long been inadequate.

This requires the appointment of a certain number of doctors, yet in all the years that the Health Center has been operating only one (1) post has been officially filled, that of the Head Physician. T3 offiical posts of Physicians are required by the FEK 141/18-02-1999,
1 Pediatrician,
1 Dentist and
1 radiologist - none of which has been filled so far.
A solution should be found regarding the shortage of nurses and qualified ambulance drivers, as the 2 who are currently employed do not suffice. Further shortages have been the cause of several problems both to residents and to staff over the years.

We firmly believe it is unacceptable for a region as large as the Western Mani – with over 7000 inhabitants, not including unregistered foreign nationals residing or working here, or the tourists who visit the area over at least 6 months of the year – to be led to decline and desolation through the negligence, to the point of indifference, of the State, former and current leaders of our country. No financial crisis should be allowed to threaten such a priceless commodity as Public Health Services. No alibi can be accepted for something as self-evident as this. Similarly, pompous announcements, papering over the cracks by bringing in staff from other districts and promises that are simply made to procrastinate and shift responsibility do not suffice.

And the question we pose to those in charge is :
How will a municipality one 1 hour away from the main city of the prefecture be able to respond to emergencies when it takes at least  2 hours for a patient to be transported to Kalamata Hospital?
Who among the State officials will be held accountable if we are faced with the loss of a life?

The residents, the staff of the Health Center, the associations of local business people, the cultural societies and GAIA, will exhaust all legal means, and we will rally through democratic procedures until a solution is found. We are expecting the District Authorities and the Ministry of Health to respond shortly, and we assure you that we shall remain vigilant and prepared to assert our inalienable rights.

Ανοιχτή επιστολή διαμαρτυρίας Κ.Υ.Αγίου Νικολάου Μεσσηνίας

Προς- ΥΠΕ-6η ΥΓΕΙΟΝΟΜΙΚΗ ΠΕΡΙΦΕΡΕΙΑ ΠΕΛ/ΣΟΥ-ΙΟΝΙΩΝ ΝΗΣΩΝ-ΗΠΕΙΡΟΥ ΚΑΙ ΔΥΤ. ΕΛΛΑΔΑΣ

O Διευθυντής ,οι εργαζόμενοι του Κέντρου Υγείας και σύσσωμοι οι πολίτες του δήμου,ενωμένοι σε κοινό σκοπό, ζητούν από την πολιτεία να θέσει προς επίλυση το χρόνιο πρόβλημα της υπολειτουργίας του Κ.Υγείας.

Αυτό προϋποθέτει να δοθούν οργανικές θέσεις ιατρών σε αριθμό τέτοιο που να είναι λειτουργήσιμο, κάτι που στα τόσα χρόνια λειτουργίας έχει δοθεί μόνο (1) μια οργανική θέση, εκείνη του διευθυντή του Κ.Υγείας. Να προκηρυχθούν τρεις (3) οργανικές θέσεις που προβλέπονται (ΦΕΚ 141/18-02-1999) ιατρών γενικής ιατρικής ή παθολογίας,
1 παιδιάτρου, 
1 οδοντιάτρου,
1 ακτινολόγου και αγροτικών ιατρών για τα περιφερειακά ιατρεία Πλάτσας, Καρδαμύλης και Κάμπου.
Να βρεθεί λύση στην έλλειψη νοσηλευτών, οδηγών ασθενοφόρου μια και δεν επαρκούν οι δύο εν ενεργεία οδηγοί, καθώς και οποιεσδήποτε άλλες ελλείψεις έχουν επιφέρει χρόνια τώρα προβλήματα στους πολίτες και το προσωπικό.

Θεωρούμε πως ένας μεγάλος δήμος όπως της Δυτικής Μάνης με περισσότερους από 7.000 κατοίκους, δεν έχουν καταγραφεί οι μόνιμοι ξένοι, οι εργαζόμενοι από άλλες χώρες κι ο τουρισμός που έχει διάρκεια έξι μήνες το χρόνο να οδηγείται στην παρακμή/αφανισμό με αμέλεια έως και αδιαφορία από την πολιτεία από πρώην και νυν κυβερνώντες της χώρας. Καμιά οικονομική κρίση δεν μπορεί να κατακερματίσει το δημόσιο αγαθό που είναι η υγεία. Δεν υπάρχει άλλοθι στο αυτονόητο. Όπως δεν αρκούν οι πομπώδεις εξαγγελίες, τα μπαλώματα με προσωπικό από άλλες περιοχές, οι υποσχέσεις που χρονοτριβούν και μεταθέτουν ευθύνες.

Και το ερώτημα που θέτουμε στους υπεύθυνους, είναι…
Πως ένας δήμος σε απόσταση (1) μιας ώρας από την πρωτεύουσα του νομού, θα ανταποκριθεί σε έκτακτα περιστατικά, όταν χρειάζονται (2) δύο ώρες τουλάχιστον για να βρεθεί ο ασθενής στο νοσοκομείο Καλαμάτας.

Ποιος από την πολιτεία θα έχει κάτι να πει, να εξηγήσει, αν βρεθούμε μπρος σε μια απώλεια ζωής.
Οι πολίτες, οι εργαζόμενοι του Κ.Υγείας, οι Σύλλογοι «ΓΑΙΑ»-Επαγγελματιών και Πολιτιστικοί, θα εξαντλήσουμε κάθε νόμιμο μέσο, θα κινητοποιηθούμε μέσα από δημοκρατικές διαδικασίες μέχρι να βρεθεί λύση. Αναμένουμε σύντομα απάντηση από την περιφέρεια/υπουργείο υγείας και βεβαιώνουμε πως θα είμαστε σε επαγρύπνηση και έτοιμοι να διεκδικήσουμε το αυτονόητο.
